Research Lines
Genetics, Biodiversity and Biotechnology of carotenogenic yeasts. The mechanisms of regulation of the expression of genes that control the carotenoid biosynthesis pathway in Xanthophyllomyces dendrorhous are studied. The existing relationships between structural changes in the yeast genome and changes in the physiology of the gene as a mechanism for regulating gene expression are determined. To do this, the yeast genome is considered as a dynamic system that has the ability to respond to external factors in a plastic way, which can have great consequences for the organism in question. Thus, there could be a correlation between changes in structural genomic organization and changes in gene expression. Biodiversity of carotenogenic yeasts: The distribution and genetic characteristics of carotenoid-producing yeasts in Antarctica and forests in cold regions are studied.
