Brief review of research line:
My research aims to understand patterns and processes modulating mutualist interactions, which drive the evolution of vegetal organisms (seaweeds and plants). These topics include causes and consequences of genetic biodiversity variation, population connectivity, and adaptive evolution. Additionally, I explore the ecological and evolutionary consequences of chimerism produced by somatic fusion among genetically differentiated individuals, using macroalgae species as a study model. In both topics, I aim to contribute to conservation of vegetal biodiversity, their ecosystem services, and societal awareness. All these objetives have been developed through grants directly related to habitat conservation and restoration, including outreach of scientific information.
