Research Lines

Our research aims to understand patterns and processes that modulate mutualistic interactions, which drive the evolution of plant organisms (algae and plants). These topics include the causes and consequences of variation in genetic biodiversity, population connectivity, and adaptive evolution. Furthermore, I explore the ecological and evolutionary consequences of chimerism produced by somatic fusion between genetically differentiated individuals, using macroalgae species as a study model. In both topics, my goal is to contribute to the conservation of plant biodiversity, its ecosystem services and social awareness. All of these objectives have been developed through grants directly related to habitat conservation and restoration, including the dissemination of scientific information.
