It is with deep sadness that we have received the news of the departure of the Professor of the Faculty of Sciences, Doctor Alberto Veloso Martínez.
Professor Veloso studied Dentistry at the Valparaíso headquarters of the University of Chile, where he was also its Secretary General. He did his Postgraduate studies in Texas, USA and in 1973 he joined the School of Medicine, where he dedicated himself to teaching undergraduate and graduate studies, to the study of amphibians, founding his prestigious laboratory.
Later, in the Faculty of Sciences, he will be the creator of the Department of Ecological Sciences, of which he was its Director between 1983 and 1990 and between 2010 and 2012.
Today we thank you for your passion for research and your commitment to the University.
He leaves us an extraordinary academic, who trained many scientists today active in the area of Herpetology. Without a doubt, a loss is very significant for our House of Higher Studies.
